A cut above the rest
An Arthurian-themed barbers’ shop has opened for business in a busy Waterlooville precinct.
Property consultancy Myddelton & Major has successfully negotiated the letting of a retail unit in The Boulevard to Excalibur Barbers on a new 10-year lease at a quoting rent of £15,500 per year.
Kerry Sexton of Excalibur Barbers said: “I am very grateful for the welcoming response we’ve had from the local residents of Waterlooville.
“I am completely overwhelmed with how well the business has taken off and it’s lovely to see people stop by to look at my vintage barber equipment in the window display.
“My reason behind the decor inside and out was to give the people of Waterlooville and its visitors something eye catching and different to look at. Even if they do not require my services at least the unit is now aesthetically pleasing. “
Myddelton & Major Partner Simon Lee said: “We’re pleased to have let this well-positioned town centre property to Excalibur Barbers, who have 15 years’ experience in the trade.
“Excalibur Barbers offer a distinctive Arthurian theme and a calming atmosphere in their bespoke ‘mancave’, where they believe male grooming is the future.
“With the letting of this property to Excalibur Barbers there is only one unit available to rent in The Boulevard.”
The Boulevard forms a busy pedestrian thoroughfare, linking the main pedestrian section of London Road with Dukes Walk, anchored by Waitrose and Wilkinson.
Other nearby retailers include Costa Coffee, Specsavers, Halifax Bank and Robert Dyas.
Waterlooville, population around 20,000, is eight miles north of Portsmouth, with the A3M motorway approximately one mile to the east. The town serves a wide catchment area including Purbrook, Cowplain, Denmead, Horndean and Widley.
