Defence firm expands at Bluestone
A company manufacturing protection systems for military vehicles and shelters has expanded to an additional unit on Amesbury’s fast-growing Bluestone Centre.
MDH Defence has agreed a six-year lease on Unit 17, The Bluestone Centre in a deal brokered by property consultancy Myddelton & Major.
Quoting rent for the 1,485 sq ft unit on the second phase of the new development off Sunrise Way was £8,750 per annum.
Myddelton & Major Surveyor Gary Mead said: “MDH Defence has more than 50 years’ experience in the design, development and manufacture of vehicle chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence (CBRN) and fresh air filtration systems.
“The company also provides bespoke solutions for vehicle crew cooling and environmental control units, unhardened collective protection (UCPS) systems, shelter CBRN systems and a range of CBRN filters and support equipment.
“This letting shows the ongoing success of Bluestone’s modern, purpose-built, high-specification units and further demonstrates both a growing confidence in the region’s commercial property market and an acute shortage of capacity in an area where demand outstrips supply.”
The Bluestone Centre forms part of the giant 160-acre Solstice Park on the outskirts of Amesbury.
It is significant for employment prospects in Wiltshire with 131,630 people of employment age living within a 30 minute drive.
The Bluestone Centre occupies an elevated position on the Business Park, overlooking the Solstice Park Hotel and roadside services. It can be accessed from either Meridian Way or Porton Road adjacent to the new Lovibond UK factory HQ.
Major occupiers at Solstice Park include Home Bargains, Muller Wiseman, Greggs (to be built), Lovibond, Animal Friends and Travis Perkins (to be built).
Other occupiers of the Bluestone Centre include: Birchall Teas, Express MOT Centre, Vetimed, Nationwide Engineering, M W Duckett Kitchens, Hassett Industries, Bluestone Hydrotherapy, Charlecotes Original Oak Flooring Ltd, Luna Lifts and Seamach Ltd.
Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2018 for the seventh year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
