Back to the StoneAge for former MoD building

An office building at the former MoD armaments camp at West Dean on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border has been snapped up by waterblasting equipment firm StoneAge UK.

Property consultancy Myddelton & Major has successfully negotiated the letting of The Lodge at Dean Hill Park on a new seven-year lease of £14,000 per year.

New tenants of the 1551 sq ft (144.09 sq m) detached modern office building, StoneAge UK, provide industry-leading equipment for high-pressure waterblasting and sewer jetting to industrial cleaning contractors across Europe.

Myddelton & Major Partner Dean Speer said: “The Lodge, which houses a range of individual offices, is in an idyllic rural setting with allocated on-site car parking at the entrance to Dean Hill Park.

“Features include central heating, perimeter trunking, fitted carpets, category II lighting, a fitted kitchen and male and female cloakrooms.

“Dean Hill Park is a 385-acre site nestled in sprawling countryside with woodland views. This is a wonderful setting of historical naval importance to locate a business.”

West Dean lies 10 miles to the south west of Salisbury and is well located with connections to Romsey and via the A36 to the M27. West Dean Station on the Salisbury to Southampton rail line is within walking distance of the park.

The former Royal Naval Armaments Depot Dean Hill began life during the Second World War after Ministry of Defence requisitioned more than 500 acres of farmland to boost the war effort.

In 2004, the then Defence Munitions Dean Hill was eventually closed by the Government and most of the site the site sold to a company that demilitarised the area and brought the redundant buildings back to life as the redeveloped Dean Hill Park.

Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2017 for the sixth year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
