New pet store in town centre

A new pet shop is to open in a prime position in the centre of Amesbury.

This follows property consultancy Myddelton & Major successfully negotiating a deal for a double fronted retail premises at 24 Salisbury Street.

Quoting rent for the 464 sq ft (43.10 sq m) shop was £16,500 per annum and new tenant Graham Eaton, trading as Amesbury Pets Ltd, has agreed a 10-year lease.

Myddelton & Major Partner Simon Lee said: “I was heartened that we were able to conclude a transaction for this prominent town centre property close to the junction with High Street.

“With the world of pets being particularly popular at the moment, the people of Amesbury needed another store in the town centre offering a full range of supplies.”

A long-established pet supplies store nearby had closed in April 2018.

The unit has a double fronted glazed window display and a central double entrance door leading to an open-plan sales area with ancillary rear storage area as well as a staff kitchen and WC.

The frontage measures 26 ft 10 ins (8.18m) gross and the shop is 21ft 2 ins (6.54m) deep.

Nearby traders include the Post Office, Lloyds Bank, Reeve the Baker, Hays Travel, Boots and the Co-Op.

The market town of Amesbury is nine miles north of Salisbury on the A345 and 13 miles west of Andover via the A303, serving a district population of almost 27,000.
