Former village primary school with potential on the market
The former St Michael’s primary school in the historic village of Figheldean has become available to buy or to rent.
Property consultancy Myddelton & Major has been instructed to market the school premises, which occupies a site of approximately 0.71 acres (0.287 ha).
It is available either to buy as a freehold property, or to rent on a new lease. The price is available on application and offers are invited for either option.
Myddelton & Major Partner Dean Speer said: “This former school site has potential for a range of uses, subject to planning.
“Figheldean is a historic village, mentioned in the Domesday Book, which lies alongside the River Avon on the southern edge of Salisbury Plain.
“The site adjoins established residential development on the southern edge of the village and the Figheldean Social Club is across the road.
“The school building dates back to 1885 and currently has classrooms, offices and WC facilities. There are also a number of temporary classrooms and the buildings measure 1647 sq ft (153.01 sq m).”
Figheldean is about ten miles away from Salisbury, with Amesbury and the A303 four miles away. Frequent rail services to London are from Grateley (80 minutes to Waterloo), at Pewsey (70 minutes to Paddington) and Salisbury (90 minutes to Waterloo).
Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2018 for the seventh year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
