The future’s bright for Orangery
Salisbury is to get a brand new garden themed café/bar in a spectacularly refurbished city centre property.
The hugely popular Winchester Orangery is branching out to open a new outlet at 102 Crane Street.
This follows the letting of the 647 sq ft (60.11 sq m) retail unit in in a deal brokered by property consultancy Myddelton & Major.
The tenant has agreed a 20-year lease on the property, formerly an art supplies shop, with the terms undisclosed.
Myddelton & Major Surveyor Gary Mead said: “The Winchester Orangery are expanding their existing operation to provide delicious breakfast, brunch and lunchtime food in this beautifully refurbished building in an idyllic city centre setting.
“It shows that confidence will return to our city centre as lockdown eases. The Winchester Orangery has proved to be highly individual and hugely popular. We look forward to the Salisbury Orangery following suit.
“What is also heartening is that 102 Crane Street is an example of a spectacular refurbishment of an existing property to provide a unique and characterful premises in this charming riverside location.”
The property comprises a unique, refurbished retail property of oak frame construction, with brick and rendered elevations under a clay tile roof. The interior has an exposed oak frame and retained historic stonework features.
It is situated on Crane Street, a short distance from the High Street and the Cathedral Close. Adjoining Crane Bridge, the property sits alongside the Riverside Walk, which joins Fisherton Street with Crane Street and Queen Elizabeth Gardens beyond.
Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2020 for the ninth year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
